Hackers on the loose
The disruptive action on this blog is starting to get severe that even my name is being used by a gremlin comment writer. I think he or she has written comments with my name twice. I will choose to ignore this person and the mischief that he or she is trying to foment. I have a fundamental purpose is making this blog flourish and whoever is trying to sabotage the longevity of this blog will not discourage me from doing so.
I would suggest that legitimate followers be discerning in following comments. If the tone or language appears to be condescending, impolite or vulgar, then just ignore it. From this day forward, I will try to be more vigilant in reading comments. I will erase any foul or vulgar language or snide remarks that appear offensive and mark it as spam. In the meantime, to those of you who find this space useful, bear with me and understand that there is a hacker whose intentions are far from decent.

Sir Gus, I hope those causing mayhem get caught or stop their wrong doing.
I also hope that people commenting here take notice that this is “Gus Cosio’s blog” and don’t post anything to promote themselves or their site.
More power to this blog
Hi Gus,
I hope your site will be at peace soon. If I may speculate, it appears that the creator of the facebook page “Philippine Stock Tips” has also been linked to comments made on Cliffhanger’s blog and the tirades seem to be specifically targeted at you and Mr. Zandro Zulueta. Unfortunately, I do not have substantial proof but it may help track the identity of the hacker on your site. I recall Garry voluntarily lent his hand to help out improve some security features on this blog. Well, thank you that you remain steadfast about your market insights despite the unwarranted disruptions of late. More power!
I agree with alijeffty said, you may contact sir Garry for more secured site and eliminate those who trying to sabotage this great blog.
May the force be with you sir Gus.
Those comments really disrupt the healthy discussion that goes on in this site. One cannot help but read the comments that are posted. Unfortunately, you’ll only know they’re worthless after you have read them. Over the past posts, I just read Gus’ views.
Truly unfortunate that people have to resort to destructive behavior. Here’s to healthy discussion!
Sir Gus,
It is sad to know that until now, there is/are still people who post comments and make the readers believe that you were the one who made the comment.
It is possible that some readers were able to read the posts and thought that it was you made them so maybe you could post here the comments made that did not actually come from you.
This would clarify to us readers that you were not the one who made the said comment/s.
Thanks po and I’m hoping that the person/s who are doing these things would stop.
Hi Sir Gus,
It is really sad that your site is being invaded by selfish and misleading persons. Guys, this is a not a site to promote your own nor is this a site to make yourself known. Moreover, this is not even a boxing ring where you can just throw harsh and vulgar languages. I really hope we can be responsible in sharing our comments and help this site be how it once was-informative and helpful.
I would like to take this opportunity to declare that I am not behind these bogus postings. Thank you and may the force be with you in your quest to become wealthy.
Hi Sir Gus, I hope this doesnt discourage you from sharing your thoughts to us. You have truly helped decent followers of this blog not only in the stock market but also understanding the different factors that influence prices and economy. I have learned so much from your posts and hope to hear more from you.
Thank you!
yeah, I totally understand how that feels. – its really annoying to see my name being used by someone else too. I don’t know if its intentionally or unintentionally but I have not been posting at all and yet when I read the comments I see a lot of comments made by ‘jasper’. Perhaps I should sign my comments with ‘The Real Jasper’ :X
Sir gus,
Dont worry about those hacker, just continue doing your work, anyway those who read your blog from wayback you started..I think already have an instinct to know if your the real gus who wrote the comment..
“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”

Let’s just be responsible for all our comments and reactions here. We will support this Blog Sir Gus!
God Bless and Good Day to All! Go ORE!!:)
Let’s not dignify the poster by calling him a “hacker”. He’s nothing more than a poser pretending to be someone he can never be.
WordPress can be configured to allow comments only be registered users. Unfortunately, this is the only way to stop posers.
There is a difference.
Poser: makes posts by using the names of known posers
Hacker: makes posts by using not only the name but also the registered e-mail address of known posers
You may verify this by comparing the avatar/icon that appears beside your name every time you post something. Hope this helps. By the looks of it, a hacker (not a poser) is in our midst.
PoserNotHacker,
Chris is right. If I post a comment here and use the name Gus Cosio you could easily distinguish that it is not Sir Gus that posted it by observing the avatar (more accurately a gravatar), which acts like your signature. Just imagine if the person you want to refer as a Poser figures out your e-mail address and starts using it not only for posting comments on this blog but also to contact your boss, or access an online account that required putting your e-mail address as a username. With those possibilities, I would rather refer to the person as a Hacker (with all the criminal connotations that is ascribed to it). We are not glorifying the person by calling him or her as a hacker; rather, we are condemning the person.
A gravatar is not at all like your signature. You don’t even have to _hack_ into Sir Gus’ account. All you need is create a gravatar account using an email of your choice, upload Sir Gus’ gravatar as your gravatar and you can start posing as Sir Gus but using your gravatar registered email. The value you put in the email field, generates the appropriate image from gravatar.
On an open posting policy site like this, you cannot trust names on comments. You cannot trust gravatars on comments.
Hacking and posing are crimes but hackers have skills, posers are simply lame.
Jaylagare,
But you cannot fake the MD5 encrypted image. It just so happened that the gravatar of Gus has been customized to show his profile picture rather than the default MD5 image. The MD5 encryption is like a barcode which is unique. If the so called Poser had not hacked the email address, how would you explain the MD5 image?
I pray for more power to this blog. This is important to me because comments from Sir Gus is very valuable. Hackers, back off and hack only a system that can put money in your purse.
Sir Gus,
I have been a long follower of your blog, though this is my first time to post a comment. I have been following also other sites particularly finance manila , and it is only in this site that I feel I get very neutral and informative information on our local stock market for free. Others have already started to charge fees just to give you the right to discuss with them . I hope you continue with your blog to encourage more silent investors to invest in the stock market.
More power to you.
Well, this just proves that the popularity of this blog is spreading like a wildfire. Reading informative blogs like these is really a privilege so I’m glad that Sir Gus is not at all discouraged by posers.
Hi Gus, I’m glad to be back here at your blog. I need to learn more about stock investing, and I know that your investment wisdom is notable. Perhaps, that is why one unethical person tried to stole your popularity. Hackers are one of my biggest problems in the Internet. They stole and destroy names, personal info and properties. Anyway, let’s just make our site secured by always having a way to restore anything.
Just a thought: What if this hacking issue is a social experiment perpetrated by Sir Gus? Wala lang. Perhaps to see how people/readers can actually be swayed by ideas concocted on the mere grounds of name and reputation, regardless of the source. I watched this movie Social Experiment and I just cannot help but think this is one. Anyway, I wish that your site will be purged of gremlins soon. Do not use water; gremlins can multiply when they get wet.
that may be possible. when we are facing an unknown enemy, it might be wise to entertain possibilities. but I do not mean to offend Sir Gus.
To all ORE believers, i think this is the time, i’m not a believer of it but as i compare its scenario with MER and AEV i think uptrend is near, but i have to wait for 3.2-3.5 price, like in MER-230/shre and AEV-40/shre
Enough of the hackers topic, lumalaki lang kasi lalo ung issue, what i really fear is that sir gus will shutdown this blogsite, i hope not bcoz this is one of my resources of info and ideas…can’t u see the more we pay attention to it he/she keeps doing on it, so from now on let’s ignore him!
i agree. madidistingush nyo naman kung paano magcompose si gus ng message.
hi sir gus! is there hope for sli and dgtl? i got sli at 1.90 and dgtl at 1.60.
there is hope for dgtl – to all holders of DGTL – just wait and hold. i’m personally expecting this stock to go back to 1.80 at least to 2 pesos. be patient, it’s surely going to happen within the next couple of months.
Same stuff as CEB. Already cut my loseses… Try shifting it to other moving stocks… I do not recommend this for now… DGTL is a laggard stucks (I mean stocks)
thanks poggs!
technically speaking dgtl further downside is likely before it can recover. the telecom industry in particular is out of favor, and dgtl at its current price is more overvalued than globe. so couple of months does not seem to be a plausible time frame to expect a recovery; try half a year from now.
Note: just my opinion; I am not being unconstructive. Ok!
thanks so much jacky and anthony.
Sold Tel w/profit:) bought Fph and Edc….
the following stocks are starting to move edc, mbt, pcor,lc,mer, agi .. started accumulating since january =) happy trading to everyone
